Manufacturing

What the shop floor already writes down

Travelers, nonconformance reports, work instructions, the thread where a supplier’s late part reshuffled the week: manufacturers keep detailed records, and they almost never leave the building. Manufacturing is on every major buyer’s list.

Why labs want it

Models know the textbook. What they haven’t seen is how a 40-person job shop quotes, schedules, builds, inspects and fixes, or how a quality issue gets traced back and closed out.

Mercor lists manufacturing among its target industries with work orders, QA logs and spec sheets as examples. Handshake AI lists production records, quality reports and work instructions. Grepped’s founder named semiconductors as a sector in demand.

Where this is reported, as of October 2026. None of these companies is a SellMyData customer; they are the public record of what buyers are asking for.

Teams · Gmail · Slack

02

Code

PLC programs, CNC programs and CAD automation scripts, if you keep them in version control.

GitHub · Often none

03

Documents

Work instructions, spec sheets, drawings, quality manuals, inspection plans and engineering change orders.

SharePoint · Drive · Arena

04

Records

Work orders, bills of materials, purchase orders, inventory and quality records from your ERP, with identities removed.

JobBOSS² · ProShop · Fishbowl

05

Tasks

Maintenance tickets, nonconformance reports and corrective actions from raised to closed.

MaintainX · Limble · UpKeep

Tool names are the ones we see most in this industry. If yours isn’t listed, it almost certainly still counts: take inventory and we’ll tell you.

What stays out

  • Customer drawings and specsMaterial owned by your customers, or covered by an NDA that doesn’t allow this, stays out. The rights check goes through your customer agreements with you.
  • Export-controlled materialAnything subject to ITAR, EAR or similar controls is out of scope.
  • People’s detailsNames, email addresses, phone numbers, addresses and account numbers are replaced with consistent placeholders before any lab sees a sample. See what we remove.
  • HR and personal channelsDirect messages, HR channels, payroll files and anything about an individual employee stay out.

Full detail: what we remove and how rights are checked. We don’t buy consumer personal data, health records tied to people, or payment card data.

How it works

  1. STEP 01

    Value it

Answer a few questions and get an estimated range. Nothing is shared yet.

  2. STEP 02

    Share your exports

We walk you through exporting from each tool you choose, for the date range you choose. We never write to your systems.

  3. STEP 03

    Approve the listing

We strip names, contacts and identifiers. You review the redacted preview and the price before any lab sees it.

  4. STEP 04

    Get paid

When a lab buys a license, you get paid. We aim to pay within 7 days of the sale closing.

Today this is done by hand, with you. You export, we clean and prepare, you approve. How you stay in control.

Questions from manufacturing

Most of our drawings belong to customers. What’s left?

Your process. Work instructions, quality system records, maintenance history, scheduling, purchasing and the threads around them are yours. The rights check separates your material from your customers’.

Do machine and sensor logs count?

Raw sensor streams are usually not what buyers describe. Maintenance tickets, downtime notes and quality records written by people are.

We’re ISO 9001 certified. Does that help?

It usually means your records are consistent and complete, which raises the value of a dataset.

We do defense work. Can we take part?

Only with export-controlled material fully out of scope. Many shops license the commercial side of the business and keep controlled programs out.
